His business career includes more than 25 years as a Qualitative Research Director.
Dr. Weissbuch has also taught at Xavier University for many years in Sociology and Political Science. He has a Ph.D. in Sociology from Loyola University of Chicago and an M.A. in Sociology and Cultural Anthropology from Ball State University. His specialized areas include Complex Organizations, Qualitative Research Techniques, Cultural/Urban/Business Anthropology, Work & Occupations, Sport, Education and Popular Culture.
Dr. Weissbuch’s marketing research activities are largely devoted to applying his knowledge of cultural interaction and group behavior to practical business problems, such as individual and industrial group purchase decisions. He has a broad base of experience in a variety of product and services industries including: retailing, banking, education, medical/hospital issues and consumer durables. He has also worked extensively in consumer packaged goods and advertising testing.
In addition to extensive experience in group dynamics he is a skilled one-on-one interviewer, having conducted thousands of personal, in-depth discussions with a wide range of individuals. During recent years Dr. Weissbuch has conducted several field ethnographies for technology, industrial and financial services companies.
